«13th International Mobile Gaming Awards Global (IMGA Global) Nominations Announced»

Gamasutra

«The 13th International Mobile Gaming Awards Global (IMGA Global) [@imgawards] today announced the 159 games nominated for their Grand Prix award, as well as those nominated for the 12 additional prizes. The winners will be announced on February 28 at the annual IMGA Global awards ceremony in San Francisco.

»Fans of the nominated games can vote now at imgawards.com to help their favorites in the competition for the People’s Choice Award.

»"2016 was a year of growth for the IMGA," said Maarten Noyons, CEO and founder of the IMGA. "We launched competitions in Southeast Asia, the Middle East North Africa, and China. The lineup of this year’s IMGA Global campaign is unique, because it is the result of a worldwide search for quality, innovation and originality. The 159 nominees, including 29 unpublished games and 13 VR games, have been selected from nearly 3000 submissions, and unites our local competitions winners with those selected from our global call for entries. I personally recommend every single game in this line up."

»The winners of the new local IMGA editions (Southeast Asia, Middle East North Africa and China) were guaranteed spots as nominees for the IMGA Global competition.

»For the second time, the IMGA will present an award for the best mobile VR game. Joining the existing awards for the first time this year will be a completely new initiative: the Best Game Artist Award, which will be given to the best artist or the best art team who worked on an exceptionally beautiful game.

The winners will be announced on February 28 at the annual IMGA Global awards ceremony in San Francisco.

»About IMGA

»Created in 2004, the IMGA is the longest standing mobile games award program. With its long history and unique judging process, it has recognized some of the world’s most popular titles in their early days, such as Angry Birds, Badland and Monument Valley. It is the only competition that unites the industry by celebrating excellence and innovation in games. In 2016 the IMGA launched local competitions in Southeast Asia, China and Middle East North Africa, while keeping an international competition, rebranded IMGA Global. The winners of IMGA Global will be announced on March 1 st 2017 in San Francisco.

»The IMGA Global competition is sponsored by mobile game publishers Youzu, KING, Supercell, Rovio and by TDS (japan), Samsung, Euroméditerranée and the City of Marseille.»
